How to clean and pressure wash a small deck with minimal tools.
This is a pretty good demonstration for any DIY. He does require a fair amount of elbow grease to compensate for using a low pressure power washer.
However, the staining techniques in this video are extremely labour intensive.

However, bleach will also destroy wood fibres which can cause a lot of extra work.

Common Carpentry Repairs
Quite often, even well constructed decks need a little carpentry.
Depending on the the type of lumber, if the wood piece ever lifts up, you may be able to push it down using this technique.

Sanding Decks
Using a large orbital sander on a deck floor.
Great instructions and wonderful demonstration.
When stain strippers and orbital sanders won't remove a tough stain, using a grinder is a great and fast option.
Sanding deck ballusters.
This is the least expensive method of sanding ballusters that will consume the more time.
However, it is recommended to start out learning hand sanding before using a tool like this to fully understand what machines can do.
Sanding hand railings with drill grinder.
This is an inexpensive method of sanding and is a little dangerous, especially for beginners.
Deck floor sanding with belt sander.
If you don't have access to a larger floor sander or you want to save money, belting sanding would be an option for any DIY.

This is only recommended for people who are super comfortable using a grinder, otherwise this can create a lot of damage.

Deck Staining, Sealing & Oiling
Excellent staining techniques can be learned here. This is how every wood deck floor should be stained.
However, we have a strong opinion on their use of products for this particular lumber and would not recommend it.

Fence Staining
